Senator Ahmed Makarfi, Gov Simon Lalong of Plateau State, Bishop Ali Buba Lamido and the Senator representing Kaduna Central, Uba Sani among others, have bagged the 2022 Nigerian Leadership Awards (NLA).
They will be conferred with the awards at the 12th edition of Nigerian Leadership Awards 2022 scheduled to hold on December 1 in Kaduna.
A statement by the management of Privileged Communications Nigeria Limited, organisers of the awards said the awardees have helped advance thoughtful and equity-focused legislation aimed at supporting Nigerians from democratic opportunity.
“After a nationwide nomination process, the management of Privilege Communications Nigeria Limited, Publishers of Privilege Magazine and Transparency Monitors Online is pleased to announce that the 2022 legislator of the year award will be given to Senator Uba Sani, Senator representing Kaduna Central.”
The statement said Senator Makarfi will be a recipient of the prestigious NLA award as well as a guest speaker during the public lecture with the theme: 2023 Which Way Forward?
“Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi is a former governor of Kaduna state, an experienced leader who uses reforms to diffuse clashes that took place over the implementation of Sharia Law in 2000.
“He is best suitable as the distinguished guest speaker considering his experience as two term governor and senator for Kaduna North senatorial district and a former national chairman, caretaker committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“Makarfi is nominated 2022 NLA Man of the Year, while governor El-Rufai wins Urban Renewal Performance Leadership Award in Nigeria,” the statement read.
