Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, has disclosed that his preferred successor in office would be announced in January 2026 ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The two-time governor of Oyo State made this known during the 11th Omi Tuntun Ramadan Lecture held at the Government House Arcade, Ibadan, on Monday.

Makinde, while addressing the audience, told them that his billboard in the Isale Alfa area of the state capital should not be removed yet, saying his picture will be replaced with that of his preferred successor in January 2026.

“I’m not yet a lame duck. Please leave my billboard at Isale Alfa,” said Makinde.

“In January 2026, we know that political activities will start. I will tell you the picture of the person that will be installed there,” the governor added.
