Running a summer coaching programme during the holidays can be a lucrative opportunity to make extra funds or make more money for anyone who has a keen interest in teaching or someone who want to strictly make money by providing the environment as well as recruiting teachers for this purpose during the long summer holidays that children embark upon.

However, quality service must be rendered when one tends to veer into the education sector.

In a chat with an educationist, Elizabeth Nwosu, she said various factors should be considered as the business of education and teaching children requires a lot, especially,  if there are a lot of pupils/students in such summer classes.

For a start, she says, one needs to assess the demand for summer coaching programmes in a particular area and then, determine if there is a need for academic support, test preparation, skill development, or recreational activities during the summer break.

Since making money and offering a learning service are the goals, Identifying students of specific grade levels, parents seeking academic values for their children, or individuals looking to develop specific skills during the summer are the prime targets. So, understanding their needs, interests, and financial capacity should be factored into the summer programme and its pricing as well.

Factors such as curriculum development, staffing, materials, facilities, and others need to be keenly looked considered.

As we live in the world of social media, with our phones always at our palms, it should be easier to reach out to people on social media with our posts and engage them and their parents as well to reach the target audience faster, our neighborhood, church, mosque, or through school partnerships, referrals, and word of mouth.

One noteworthy thing is, having adequate facilities for learning such as classroom space, teaching materials, technology, and equipment needed to provide a quality learning environment should be in place. Also, you need to put into place recreational facilities and games to make the summer programmes enjoyable for the students.

The summer coach organizer or educationist might need to Identify qualified and experienced instructors or coaches who can deliver effective instruction and support to students if it has a high number of students.

The summer coach organizer should provide excellent customer service and ensures a positive learning experience for the students while maintaining open communication with parents or guardians.

While summer coaching can be lucrative, consider how one can leverage these resources and expertise throughout the year as alternative options for offering coaching programmes beyond the summer holidays can be adapted to maintain a consistent revenue stream.

Profitability

My findings revealed that one can make N200,000 or more from summer coaching this holiday and could even rise to about N1million income or not, depending on the environment, facilitators and  facilities on offer.
