Manchester City are keen on signing Jamal Musiala from Bayern Munich this summer but may have to sell a “high-profile” player to accomodate him.
The 21-year-old £80m star is widely considered as one of the best young players in the world and it is thought he may swap the Bundesliga for the Premier League.
Musiala, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or winger, has produced 41 goals and 29 assists across 155 games for Bayern Munich to date.
He has spent his entire senior career with the German giants after he was poached from Chelsea’s academy at the age of 16.
Champions Manchester City are one of a number of elite European clubs who are interested in signing Musiala this summer, and last season’s treble winners are currently leading the pack. The 21-year-old has a contract until 2026 but Bayern’s struggles this season have led interested parties to believe that Musiala could be a realistic acquisition either this summer or next.
The Germany international grew up in west London – he had the choice to play for either Die Mannschaft or England and chose the former – and has thus targeted the Premier League as his next destination.
City are interested in bolstering their attacking line and want two players who can fluidly interchange; they are also interested in West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta and Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise.
Per the report, City would likely need to allow a high-profile player to leave. One such candidate could be Bernardo Silva, who has been linked with a potential summer move to Barcelona.
City continue to fight on multiple fronts and will play Luton Town this weekend before their Champions League quarter-final second leg against Real Madrid.
The first leg ended in a pulse-pounding 3-3 draw.
