A 60-year-old man, Musa Gidado whose wife and three children were kidnapped in Abaonigbe Odilu community, a suburb of Ilorin, Kwara State, has cried out for help, saying the kidnappers have demanded N500 million ransom to release the victims.
Gidado, however, added that after a lot of pleading, the kidnappers reduced the ransom to N100 million.
He told LEADERSHIP Sunday that his wife and three children were abducted by gunmen who invaded their community at about 9:30am last Sunday.
He recounted how he escaped after the gunmen forced the door of his house open.
“The gunmen came around 9:30pm shooting sporadically into the air to scare people away. They forced the door of my house open and abducted my wife and three children. I managed to escape through a shop attached to the house.
“The kidnappers initially demanded N500m ransom, but after a lot of pleading they have reduced the ransom to N100 million,” Gidado said.
Gidado who said he’s a petty trader from a humble background, appealed to government at all levels to come to his aid and rescue his family from the kidnappers’ den.
The head of Abaonigbe Odile community, Alh Jamiu Akanni who corroborated Gidado’s account of the incident, also appealed to the state government and security agencies to intensify efforts at rescuing the victims.
All efforts to get the reaction of the State Police Command were futile as at the time of filing this report.
