Man Dies In Police Custody, Command Launches Probe

A middle – aged man, Jimoh Abdulquadri reportedly died in a police custody on Friday in Ilorin, Kwara State.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the man was detained at a police division’s office for allegedly duping a complainant.

In a swift response to the development, the State Police Command said it has launched a discreet investigation into the matter.

It was gathered that the detention of the deceased followed a complaint lodged against him at a police station in Ilorin.

The spokesperson of the Kwara State Police Command, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi confirmed the development in a statement yesterday.

The statement reads, ” The Kwara State Police Command is aware of an unfortunate incident that led to the tragic loss of one Mr Jimoh Abdulquadri which occurred on 20th Dec, 2024.

” The deceased was invited on an alleged case of obtaining money by false pretence to the sum of N220,000 thousand Naira.
