A Federal High Court in Otu-Jeremi, Ughelli south local government area of Delta state, has remanded one Mr Okiemute Kasia for allegedly defiling his two-year-old stepdaughter, Eleora Onovuze.
Comr. Derrick Agberen, National Coordinator, Initiative for Social Rights Concerns and Advancement (ISRCA), AKA “No Justice, No Peace,” disclosed this in a statement.
According to the statement, Mr Kasia was remanded to the Nigeria Correctional Service, Okere, in Warri, a south local government area of Delta state, and is awaiting further trial before prosecution.
The rights activist said, ” On October 10, 2024, I made a post about a defilement case I intercepted, in which two-year-old little Eleora Onovuze’s innocence was tempered by her would-be stepfather, Mr. Okiemute Kasia.
“The suspect was first arrested in Otu-Jeremi, where I later facilitated the transfer of the case to the Ughelli Area Command.”
Agberen disclosed that he led a delegation accompanied by little Eleora’s family to the High Court in Otu-Jeremi, where Mr Okiemute Kasia was arraigned before the judge and was later remanded to the Nigeria Correctional Service, Okere, in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, awaiting further trial before prosecution, going by the evidence available before the court.
He said, “The face of the suspect would be kept away from the public until the suspect is convicted by the court or otherwise.”
Agberen thanked the DPO, DCO 1, Otu-Jeremi Divisional Police Station, the Ughelli Area Commander, and the Delta State Police Command for their efforts in ensuring the justice of two-year-old Eleora.
