Also listed for honours at the event, scheduled for Tuesday, June 24, 2025, is the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire.

The Rector of the institution, Arc. Dr. Babatunde Adekoyejo Jolaoso, disclosed this at a press conference to unveil the activities lined up for the convocation.

Jolaoso said over 51,000 graduates across nine academic sessions, from 2015/2016 to 2023/2024 will be awarded National Diplomas (ND) and Higher National Diplomas (HND) during the convocation. The graduands were drawn from both full-time and part-time programmes.

According to him, Chief Osoba will receive the MAPOLY Honorary Fellowship Award in recognition of his exceptional contributions to education, industry, and national development. He will be honoured alongside Princess Orelope-Adefulire and High Chief Tosin Owolabi Fadare.

Additionally, an Award of Excellence will be presented to the chairman of Adron Homes and Properties Limited, Aare Adetola Emmanuel-King, and the National President of the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACCOMORAN), Prince Shamsudeen Apelogun.

He further announced that prizes will be awarded to outstanding graduates across various faculties and departments, noting that the convocation, the first since his appointment as Rector, is a significant milestone for the institution.

“With over 51,000 graduands, this convocation is a testament to the resilience of MAPOLY. We are determined to chart a new course of growth and excellence. This is the first convocation since the 2014/2015 academic session, and it reflects a renewed spirit of progress and institutional rebirth at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic,” he stated.

He described the combined convocation as a symbolic new beginning for the polytechnic, which was established in 1979. Since assuming office about six months ago, he said his administration has focused on rebranding and repositioning the institution through improvements in the academic calendar, infrastructure renewal, and rebuilding confidence among staff and students.

The convocation lecture, titled “Diaspora Perspective and the Influence of STEM in the Globalised World of Today,” will be delivered by the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa. It will take place the same day at the Otunba Gbenga Daniel Hall on MAPOLY campus.
