Markets In Ijesaland Shut For 7-Days Over Owa’s Demise

The traditional prime minister of Ijesaland, High Chief Adebola Orolugbagbe, Odole Owa of Ijesaland has announced the closure of markets across the area for seven days following the demise of the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba (Dr) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran ll.

Orolugbagbe who announced this at a press conference in Ilesa, however said there is no imposition of curfew on any community, adding that markets shall only remain closed from September 14 to 20, 2024 and reopen on September 21.

He also announced the closure of the traditional palace at Okemese with immediate effect while all activities therein remain suspended until further notice.
High Chief Adebola Orolugbagbe further disclosed that traditional transition rites shall continue for 90-days.

According to him, Ijesaland has lost a rare gem, a father to all and a quintessential traditional ruler of old, who superintended over the entire Ijesaland for 42 years (1982 – 2024).

He noted that under his reign, ljesaland witnessed peace, unity, harmony and immense developmental projects.

Chief Orolugbagbe urged all sons and daughters of the land to remain peaceful and be in prayers for the family left behind by the monarch and for the entire Ijesaland.
