The 2026 edition of the 100 Most Notable Peace Icons Africa Summit is set to take place in Marrakech, Morocco, from June 19 to 21, organisers have announced.
The event, organised by the Davdan Peace and Advocacy Foundation, recognises individuals whose work promotes peace, unity, and sustainable development across Africa.
In a press release made available to journalists in Abuja yesterday, being listed among the 100 Most Notable Peace Icons Africa is more than receiving an award; it represents continental recognition of leadership, influence, and measurable impact in advancing peace and development.
The initiative celebrates leaders who have distinguished themselves in areas such as mediation, humanitarian service, youth empowerment, diplomacy, and community development. It also acknowledges years of dedication and strengthens recipients’ credibility among governments, institutions, and international organisations.
Awardees will also join a network of policymakers, diplomats, entrepreneurs, and advocates across Africa, creating opportunities for cross-border collaboration, participation in global conferences, and policy dialogues focused on peace building and sustainable development.
Founder of the initiative, Kingsley Amafibe, said the recognition signifies leadership, credibility, and a lasting legacy for individuals working to promote peace across the continent.
“Being listed among the 100 Most Notable Peace Icons Africa signifies leadership, credibility, continental relevance and an enduring legacy that actively contributes to peace, unity and sustainable development across Africa,” Amafibe said.
He added that the initiative is designed to inspire future generations and reinforce the message that Africa celebrates individuals who are committed to building peace and driving positive change.
The summit is expected to bring together influential leaders and change makers from across the continent to share ideas, strengthen partnerships, and advance conversations around peace building and sustainable development in Africa.
