The Nigeria Football Federation has announced the appointment of Mary Akinsola as the media officer for the Senior Women National Team, the Super Falcons.
Akinsola brings over a decade of experience in communications and sports management to her new role. Her previous positions include working as a production/commentary coordinator at Warner Bros Discovery (Eurosport), a sports writer, editor and digital media manager at sportsgazette.uk, and a podcast host and writer for ACLSports.com. She has also worked as a sportscaster, writer, and producer for the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State.
She holds a master’s degree in international sports journalism from St. Mary’s University, London, and has managed production communications for Eurosport at several major sporting events, including the Olympic Games, tennis grand slams, the English Premier League, and significant European club competitions.
Akinsola joins a determined squad targeting a record-extending tenth continental title when the 13th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations finals commence in Morocco on 5th July. She is committed to promoting the story of the Nigeria senior women’s team and connecting with stakeholders and supporters worldwide, drawing upon her passion for the game and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
