Spokesperson to the Kano State governor, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, in a statement posted on his Facebook page, said the mass defections occurred in Tofa and Ghari local government areas where the defectors were received into the NNPP by the state chairman of the party, Dr. Hashimu Dungurawa.

This comes at a time the NNPP ramps up its efforts for the upcoming local government elections scheduled for October 26.

The party used the occasion to officially launch its chairmanship campaign ahead of the polls.

NNPP’s chairmanship candidate for Tofa, Yakubu Adis, and his counterpart for Ghari, Hashimu Mai Sabulu, were present at the ceremony, expressing optimism about the party’s future.

Both candidates hailed the defections as a major win for the NNPP, asserting that the influx of new members would significantly bolster their chances in the local government elections.
