The MasterChef Nigeria kitchen turned up the heat as Loye became the latest contestant to exit the competition after falling short in a high-stakes Jollof Rice Challenge.

With only six contestants left, the cooks faced another Black Apron Day, where they were tasked with preparing a Jollof Rice Feast inspired by two regions of Nigeria. The judges demanded bold flavours, regional authenticity and, above all, a dish where jollof rice remained the undisputed star.

Loye’s plate failed to impress. Although the judges acknowledged his potential, saying his dish did not showcase the jollof rice enough to meet the challenge. Announcing his elimination, Chef Stone said Loye had what it takes to become a great chef but had fallen short on the day. Chef Eros, meanwhile, encouraged the departing contestant to cook with more emotion and confidence, stressing that memorable food comes from both skill and heart.

Loye joined Isabella and David in the bottom three after the pair also struggled during the challenge. Isabella’s dish was criticised for having too many competing flavours, while David landed in trouble after failing to complete his plate on time. Both, however, survived the elimination.

The biggest winner of the day was Favy. Despite already holding the immunity pin, she delivered the judges’ favourite dish, earning praise for its flavour, balance and execution. Her impressive performance won her a one-year supply of Sonia products and an exclusive family dining experience at Ile Eros. With the competition narrowing, the battle for the MasterChef Nigeria title is becoming increasingly fierce as the remaining contestants fight for a place in the finale.
