Director Matt Reeves has officially confirmed the cast for ‘The Batman’ Part II after weeks of speculation and online reports.
Known for teasing projects through cryptic GIF-filled social media posts, Reeves began unveiling the film’s cast on Wednesday with a series of individual posts confirming both returning stars from 2022’s The Batman and several new additions.
Among the newly confirmed cast members is Scarlett Johansson, whose involvement had previously been rumoured alongside fellow Marvel alum Sebastian Stan. Stan had reportedly been linked to the role of Harvey Dent, the Gotham attorney who later becomes Batman villain Two-Face.
Returning for the sequel are Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb/The Penguin, Jayme Lawson as Mayor Bella Reál, and Gil Perez-Abraham as Officer Martinez.
Reeves confirmed the cast through separate posts on X, with fans comparing the rollout to ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, where Marvel introduced cast members using personalised chair reveals. However, many noted that the slow-burning, individually tailored announcements felt uniquely Reeves in style.
