Kano State government has declared Tuesday, 1st September, 2026, a work-free day to enable the residents to celebrate Takutaha, which marks the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The declaration was contained in a statement issued yesterday by Rukayya Sulaiman, the director of Public Enlightenment in the Office of the Head of Service, Kano State.
According to the statement, the holiday corresponds to 19th Rabi’ul Awwal 14Â AH. It aims to allow workers and residents to participate in the celebration and reflect on the life and teachings of the Prophet.
The head of Service, Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, urged civil servants to use the occasion to reflect on and practise the Prophet’s virtues of honesty, patience, kindness, justice, peaceful coexistence and service to humanity.
Maimota also called on the workers to maintain professionalism, dedication and good character in the discharge of their duties, in line with the values of the state civil service.
She prayed for a peaceful and successful Takutaha celebration, while wishing residents of the state a joyous occasion.
