Napoli manager Walter Mazzarri has showered encomium on Victor Osimhen after the forward inspired the club to a 2-1 victory against Cagliari on Saturday night.
Osimhen scored and grabbed an assist in the thrilling contest played at the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona.
The 24-year-old opened scoring for the Serie A champions in the 64th minute.
His assist for Napoli’s second goal scored by Kvicha Kvaratskhelia was a beauty.
He drew away six Cagliari players and managed to pull back from the by-line for Kvaratskhelia to score at the far post.
“I am glad that he and Kvara scored, because they were both looking a bit irritable. They needed to get back to being protagonists the way they were last season,” Mazzarri was quoted by Football Italia.
“I can’t blame the team for getting tense, as it felt like in the first half the goal was cursed. When strikers are not relaxed, they can make really simple mistakes.”
