Nigerian rapper, Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, a.k.a. OdumoduBlvck, has explained why the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, lost the 2023 presidential election to President Bola Tinubu.
LEADERSHIP reports that LP’s Peter Obi emerged third candidate with highest number of votes behind Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and President Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) respectively, in the February 25 election.
Recall that the hip-hop sensation, who recently released a new single titled, ‘MC Oluomo’, named after the famous Lagos State Transport Union boss and Tinubu’s ally, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, came under intense citicism from Peter Obi’s supporters.
But, speaking during his album listening party in Abuja on Thursday night, OdumoduBlvck explained that Peter Obi’s lack of a strong supporter akin to Lagos’ MC Oluomo had cost him the election.
According to the rapper, having someone like MC Oluomo in his corner would have given Obi a fighting chance.
“I was on the other side of politics; I supported Peter Obi. But, I cannot even lie, if Peter Obi had an MC Oluomo, we would have had a chance. Power is not given, it is taken. Whatever you’re doing in your life, have MC Oluomo in you,” OdumoduBlvck said.
He also dismissed claims that his song was dedicated to MC Oluomo.
“Declan Rice is not about Declan Rice. MC Oluomo is not about MC Oluomo,” OdumoduBlvck declared.
