MDCAN Expresses Concern Over Insecurity Targeting Health Workers

The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Medical and Dental Consultants’ Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) has expressed concerns over the spate of insecurity targeting doctors and other healthcare workers both at their work places and homes.

They called on the federal government to continue to address the insecurity of medical doctors and other healthcare workers to enable them discharge their responsibility.

MDCAN spoke with newsmen in Jos, the Plateau State capital after the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.

Themed, “Policy Making for Quality Health Care Service: Engaging Policy Makers for Quality Health Care Delivery” and with a subtheme “Caring for the Carers: Prioritising the Health Care Providers in Nigeria, the MDCAN president, Prof Aminu Mohammad and secretary, Prof Daiyabu Ibrahim stressed that security in the hospitals and working environment must be prioritised by the government and institutions.

They further challenged government at all levels to develop effective measures of preventing Nigerians from getting near fuel tanker accidents.

NEC also called on the federal government to ensure improved road infrastructures, poverty reduction and orientation of the citizenry not scope fuel

They commended the efforts of the Nigerian military, police and other security agencies towards improvement of security in the country.
