The Centre for Attitudinal Change has called on Nigerian leaders and citizens to have a change in their mindsets to be able to make meaningful progress in both public and private sectors of the country.

The centre, at a pre-event press briefing on Mindset Re-engineering Conference holding in Lagos, on July 27, which will have Mr Vusi Thembekwayo as keynote speaker, said Nigeria is blessed but was being managed by bad leaders.

According to the president of the centre, Coach Ralph Ayua, what makes a country great are the kind of leaders it has and the kind of policies they make.

He said, “What makes a country great is not their natural resources, it is the kind of leaders they have and the aim of this conference is to shift the minds of leaders to make policies that will positively affect Nigerians.

“If we can get them to make the right decisions, the market woman will be affected by that policy. If right policies are made, it will trickle down to those at the bottom of the ladder.”

He said the conference was put together with the aim of transforming the lives of Nigerians by fostering a shift in their attitudes and mindset.

He said a bad attitude is akin to a flat tire, explaining that, “you can’t go anywhere until you change it. As a nation, Nigeria cannot achieve exponential progress without first changing our collective attitudes.”

He said, “Despite being endowed with abundant resources, Nigeria will continue to languish in underdevelopment unless we collectively embrace a positive mindset. The true measure of a nation’s greatness lies not in its natural wealth or population size, but in the attitudes of its people and leaders.

“Consider Israel’s prominence despite its desert location, Singapore’s remarkable development despite initial disadvantages, and Dubai’s ascent as a global tourist hub despite its arid landscape.

“These examples underscore the transformative power of positive attitude in shaping a nation’s destiny. The true game-changer is not maternal wealth, but the collective attitude of a society.”

He said since its inception on November 23, 2022, the centre has engaged in various impactful projects, including mental health interventions for victims of terrorism in Nigeria.

He added that through the initiatives, they have transformed the attitudes and empowered the lives of hundreds of victims.
