Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NIMechE) has been urged to continue to elect leaders with requisite qualities and skills to pilot the affairs of the association.
Engr Ahmed Kadi Amshi, gave the advice while speaking as a guest lecturer in Abuja, during the 2022 Mechanical Engineering Distinguished Lecture, organised by NIMechE.
He urged NIMechE to serve as a resource pool to Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and ensure that engineering firms and establishments practice engineering according to the rules and regulations of COREN.
He also tasked them to pursue mentoring of young engineers, identify innovations by young engineers and reward, support and encourage them, while calling for promotion of consumption of Made-in-Nigeria goods and services. He added that the division must be in the front burner of the campaign for the promotion of made-in-Nigeria goods and services.
“For the Society to collectively advance the frontier of engineering to a very high level and make the Nigerian Society of Engineers a great Society to belong by all members and be an envy to all other professional organisations in Nigeria, divisions must wake up to their responsibilities to meet up with the set aims and objectives and elect Leaders that have requisite qualities and skills.”
