The Abuja Settlement Week Steering Committee has said mediation will promote peaceful dispute resolution.
Chairperson of the committee, Mrs. Miriam Kombo-Ezeh, said mediation offers a practical pathway to justice without confrontation.
The Abuja Branch of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC), in collaboration with the Abuja Multi-Door Courthouse (AMDC), It is expected to commence its Abuja Settlement Week 2025, scheduled from 7th to 11th July 2025 at the Abuja Multi-Door Courthouse, Gudu.
The event with the Theme: “Promoting Peace, Encouraging Mediation, Delivering Justice”, is a flagship initiative that brings together mediators, legal professionals, institutions, and the public to resolve disputes through mediation – a faster, more affordable, and confidential alternative to litigation.
According to the Chairman of the ICMC Abuja Branch, “this is more than an event, it is a movement towards institutionalising peace in handling conflict.
“Mediation offers an effective pathway to justice without confrontation.”
The Abuja Settlement Week will feature free as well as subsidised mediation sessions for family, workplace, land, commercial disputes and the deployment of trained neutrals for court-referred and walk-in cases, while also showcasing awareness activities to educate the public on the benefits of mediation, engagement with communities, professionals, and justice sector stakeholders.
