Two suspected kidnappers alleged to have been part of a gang who abducted a medical doctor, Abu Ibrahim, and his brother, Abu Tahir, have been arrested at the Edo State University Teaching Hospital, Auchi, Etsako West local government area of Edo State.

Recall that the abductors killed Tahir before Abu Ibrahim was eventually released after ransom payment.

The suspects were said to have been arrested in the early hours of Sunday at the facility following their recognition by Ibrahim.

The two suspects were said to have visited the hospital to check on one of them who is receiving medical treatment at the emergency ward of the hospital, when Ibrahim identified them as some of those who kidnapped him.

Both brothers were kidnapped in January at Igbira camp in Auchi very close to the military barracks in the area.

The two suspects were recently sighted in Auchi town with two people in military uniform guiding them.

Some community leaders in Auchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Bonvist Oshiobugie and the Daudu of Igbe, Chief Yekini Sado, said the arrest of the two suspects was a major breakthrough against kidnapping syndicates in Auchi and called for thorough investigation to unravel those behind the incessant kidnapping in Auchi and Edo North in general.

It was gathered that once the news of the arrest became public, the Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, ordered that they should be transferred to the State Police Command Headquarters in Benin City.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Eno Ikoedem, identified the suspects as Idris Abubakar and Sani Abubakar.
