Messi Names Compatriot Maradona As GOAT In Football Ahead Of Pele

Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi has named the late Argentine football legend Diego Maradona as his greatest of all time (GOAT) in the soccer sport.

Messi also drew parallels between Maradona and basketball legend Michael Jordan, expressing admiration for tennis greats Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic.

“For us, Maradona was the ultimate idol and a figure of admiration for everything he embodied,” the Argentina captain told NBC Sports. “Even though I was young and did not witness much of his play live, Diego transcended the game.”

He added, “Speaking of another sport, I believe the same can be said for Jordan. I also have great respect for tennis players like Federer, Rafael, and Djokovic.”
