Senator Roland Owie; majority leader of the House of Representatives, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere; Rt. Hon. Engr. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama; Senator Mathew Urhogide; Princess Rosemary Osula Mku-Atu, and Hon Johnson Agbonayinma, are among the recipients of the 20th Midwest Herald Achievers’ Awards slated for Sunday, August 20, 2023.
Other recipients include Engr. Osa Owieadolor, Rt. Hon Omoregie Ogbeide Ihama and Greg Ogbeifun.
According to a statement endorsed by Founder/Publisher, Midwest Herald Community Newspaper, Orobosa Omo Ojo JP, the organisers said eight awardees will be honoured for their indelible contribution to the Nigerian society.

“Senator Owie is a time-tested Nigerian politician, who has successfully withstood the slippery political landscape to evolve as a reliable and constant voice in national discuss. He will also be decorated with the ‘Living Legend Award’.
“Some exemplary community leaders – Princess Dr. (Mrs.) Rosemary Osula Mku-Atu, Founder Rosula Foundation; Engr. Osa Owieadolor, Bedrock Human Development Foundation are winners in the Philanthropy category. On the other hand, Rt. Hon. Engr. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama will be decorated with the ‘Distinguished Parliamentarian Award’.
“Bedrock Foundation and Rosula Foundation, over the years, have deployed both financial and material resources to the development of Nigeria – specifically through scholarships and training programmes, while Engr. Ogbeide-Ihama used his tenure as federal legislator to promote the Indigenous Benin Culture.
“Other winners are: Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, Majority Leader, Federal House of Representatives for his ‘Visible Contribution to the Advancement of Democracy in Nigeria’; Engr. Greg Utomwen Ogbeifun, Award for ‘Industry and Leadership’, especially in the Maritime Industry where he built the first Indigenous Ship-repair Yard.
“Senator Matthew Aisagbonriodion Urhoghide will be rewarded with the ‘Legislative Distinction Award’ for his eloquence, audacious legislative agenda, which attracted national and international attention to Edo State.
“Hon. Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma, former federal legislator and member, Code of Conduct Bureau will receive the ‘Role Model Award’ for his anti-corruption crusade.”
It further added that, “The celebration will be chaired by their Majesties, Oba Dokun Thompson Gureje IV, Oloni of Eti-Oni, Osun State and Olori Angelique-Monet Gureje-Thompson”.
