Mike Bamiloye Responds To Critics Questioning Adeboye’s Stance On Insecurity

Evangelist, filmmaker and founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries, Mike Abayomi Bamiloye, has come to the defence of pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye amid criticism over his alleged silence on Nigeria’s worsening security challenges.

The remarks follow criticism from some Nigerians who questioned why Enoch Adeboye had not led protests over insecurity and the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oyo State, as he did during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Mike Bamiloye said Adeboye had not remained silent. He pointed to a November 2025 video in which the cleric condemned the country’s security situation and gave the government a 90-day deadline to act.

According to Bamiloye, many bloggers ignored the message, leaving the impression that the RCCG leader had said nothing.

He also argued that expecting an 84-year-old cleric to lead street protests was unrealistic.

Bamiloye said Adeboye’s role is to provide spiritual leadership and pray for the nation, not organise demonstrations.

“And for all those who are expecting an 84-year-old man, Servant of God, to lead a Protest against a Government, this does not make sense by virtue of his age and by the Mandate of His Calling.”

Mike Bamiloye also explained the protest led by Enoch Adeboye in 2010 was not Adeboye’s personal decision. He said the action was directed by the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria. Both groups asked churches to protest against insecurity.

He added that Adeboye simply followed the directive and led his denomination, just as other church leaders did.

“And for all those who said he led a Protest against Jonathan, on February 2nd 2010, it was the instruction of the CAN and PFN for every church to stage a protest against INSECURITY of the Nation and He complied and led his denomination too just as some other churches did.”

He concluded by reminding Christians of their primary responsibility, to continually pray for peace and for God’s intervention in the affairs of the nation, citing the biblical passage from I Timothy 2:1‑3.
