Chelsea hero John Mikel Obi hopes the Blues will sign his compatriot Victor Osimhen this summer.

Osimhen was close to joining the West London club from Napoli last summer but the move fell through due to the forward’s wage demands.

The 26-year-old has once again been linked with a move to Chelsea, who are expected to sign a new striker this summer.

Manchester United are also reportedly interested in the player, while a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia has not been ruled out.

Mikel is however eager to see Osimhen play for his former club.

“He (Osimhen) wants to play for Chelsea. I hope he’ll be playing his football next season somewhere in the Premier League. I hope he comes,” the former midfielder said on punditry duties with Bein Sports.

“I know where we stopped with the contract. I know where we are. It’s an easy fix because we’ve done all the hard work last summer.”
