The equipment is intended for Africa Corps, which is expanding its presence in Mali as part of growing cooperation with Russia.

The Africa Corps is a Russian initiative aimed at supporting security in the Sahel region. This project continues the successful military collaboration between Mali and Russia. Previously, Russia supplied Mali with modern T-72 tanks, conducted a series of military exercises for the Malian Army, and actively facilitated the training of local troops.

Northern Mali remains a hotspot for terrorist activities, posing a threat to regional security. Experts believed that the Africa Corps will aid the Malian Army in addressing the challenges.

Security specialist Souleymane Amzat highlighted thus: “In the near future, it is possible that we will see successful joint operations between the Africa Corps and Malian forces in the tri-border area — at the junction of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger.”
