The director, defence media operations, Major General Edward Buba, stated this yesterday in a statement.

He reiterated that the military would not allow enemies of democracy to derail the democratic process in the nation, saying essentially, as part of its mandate as a force, it was committed to ensuring that democracy thrives in the country.

He said the military would not relent in tackling threats to ensure stability in the nation.
“Importantly, the military stands firm and resolute to preserving the nation’s hard earned democracy and oppose any form of unconstitutional change of government. Indeed, we will work assiduously to provide the enabling environment to support government in the attainment of objectives in addressing the issues of poverty and hardship in the country,” he said.

He said troops during the week killed 108 terrorists, arrested 172 and rescued 214 hostages.
General Buba said troops also arrested 32 suspected oil thieves and recovered stolen products worth N1.3bn and 66 assorted weapons and 4,087 assorted ammunition.
