Minister of Niger Delta Affair, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, has commended the federal government over its swift intervention on the deplorable section of East-West Road in the Niger Delta region.
He spoke at a meeting of the National Council on Niger Delta held in Asaba, Delta State.
Momoh emphasised the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by the Niger Delta region.
The council, as the highest advisory body to the ministry, focuses on policy formulation and implementation aimed at improving the socio-economic well-being of the people in the Niger Delta region.
In his address, Momoh expressed delight over the collaboration with the Ministry of Works, resulting in a quick intervention on the East-West Road. Specifically, he noted significant progress on a section of the road from Eleme to Onne Junction.
“This development underscores the federal government’s determination to promptly tackle issues affecting the Niger Delta region,” Momoh stated.
Furthermore, efforts are underway to strengthen coordination mechanisms to achieve planned objectives in the region. One such effort involves harmonizing all development plans into a single strategy, as per the presidential charge.
“This initiative aims to foster shared purpose, streamline resource allocation, and enhance transparency and accountability among stakeholders in the Niger Delta region,” Momoh elaborated.
