The minister of state for Education, Hon. Suwaiba Sa’idu Ahmad has described Jigawa governor Malam Umar Namadi as the best-performing governor in the country, noting that his proactive policies put the state ahead of the federal government in implementing various development projects and programmes.
The minister made this statement during the Citizens Engagement Program (Gwamnati Da Jama’a) held in Garki local government area of the state.
She explained that while the federal government initiates policies and programmes for states to implement, Jigawa State has often taken significant steps in executing such initiatives before they are officially rolled out at the national level.
Suwaiba cited the livestock reform, agricultural mechanisation, Jigawa Compete—a digital initiative for gathering and storing integrated education data (Database Dashboard)—and the establishment of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centres.
“While the Federal Government is set to flag off the implementation of TVET next month, Governor Namadi has already commissioned one of the well-equipped TVET centres in Garki Local Government,” she said.
“There are several other areas where, based on evidence, Jigawa is ahead of the Federal Government in implementing various initiatives. Indeed, Governor Namadi is a performing governor in all aspects,” she added.
“I want used to this medium to congratulate the people of Jigawa and urge them to redouble their support for the governor, as well as for the Federal Government under the leadership of President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), to ensure more projects and programmes are executed to enhance the social and economic well-being of citizens,” the minister stated.
Speaking during the commissioning of the TVET centre in Garki, Governor Namadi stated that the facility would focus on equipping individuals with practical skills in various trades and occupations to promote job creation, poverty eradication, and self-reliance.
