Minister of Finance and the coordinating minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has said that Abia State governor, Alex Otti, has shown capacity with the state’s funds.
Edun made the claim on Friday at the launch of the State Integrated Infrastructure Development (ABSIID) project funds in Umuahia, the state capital.
Represented by Oyadele Akande, he lauded Otti for his commitment to the development of the state since he assumed office through provision of road infrastructure.
”When we came here two years ago, we saw the situation of the state and today, we are happy to see what His Excellency has been able to do.
”ABSIID represents a significant growth in the collective efforts to drive economic growth, improve infrastructure and finance the quality of life in the state,” he said.
In an address, the governor said ABSIID would accelerate the development of waste management infrastructure, road projects and mitigation of erosion.
Otti, who stated that the ABSIID terms of agreement with the partners were favourable, assured that every fund accruing for it would be judiciously applied.
He lauded the federal government, the African Development Bank, the Islamic Development Bank and the Canada-Africa Development Bank Climate Fund for their support for the ABSIID.
Earlier, the commissioner for Works, Otumchere Oti highlighted the importance of infrastructure development which he said is the focus of the ABSIID.
