Minister Seeks Agro-dealers Collaboration To Strengthen Food Security Initiatives

Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari has urged agro-dealers to foster collaboration to strengthen agricultural production and ensure food security in Nigeria.

The call was made during a visit by president of the Nigerian Agro Input Dealers Association (NAIDA), Kabir Umar Fara and his team to the minister’s office in Abuja.

Kyari stressed the importance of collaboration to uphold set standards for quality and quantity of agricultural products.

He urged the association to sell only certified and approved products sourced from registered input producers. The minister also highlighted the need for the association to develop policies and programs to combat product adulteration, recognising the pivotal role of marketers as the face of the government in this sector.

The minister further charged the association to promote best agronomic practices among farmers and ensure the proper utilisation of inputs for maximum productivity.

In his remarks, Fara outlined the association’s role as an umbrella organisation for input distributors, covering fertilisers, organic and inorganic products, seeds, petrol chemicals, and farm implements.
