The minister of communication, innovation and digital economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, has warned against unauthorised sale and use of walkie-talkies and such other frequency spectrum devices.

He gave the warning at the inauguration of the South East zonal office of the ministry in Awka, Anambra State yesterday.

Represented by the director in charge of radio monitoring and survey in the ministry, Engr. Chidi Enwerem, the minister said  anyone caught selling or using “frequency spectrum resource” without obtaining license from the ministry would be prosecuted.

He explained that frequency spectrum resources could be a source of huge revenue generation for the nation, adding that it could also constitute threat to national security if not properly managed.

The minister decried lamented some falsehood being bandied about that the inauguration of the South East zonal office  was to witch-hunting some persons or organisations, describing it as unnecessary.

He said similar offices had already been inaugurated in all other geo-political zones of the country.
