Ministry Trains Bauchi Farmers On Cassava Production

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has trained over 50 farmers on cassava production in Bauchi State.

Speaking at the emergency employment and demonstration of climate resilient practices of cassava production and employment of farmers and extension agents in Bauchi state on yesterday, the coordinator of the ministry in Bauchi State, Mr Daniel Abarshi, said the federal government was committed towards educating farmers on different value chain crops in its quest for achieving food security in the country.

Mr Abarshi explained that the Federal Ministry of Agriculture had trained and empowered farmers across the six geo political zones of the country on a variety of crops production such as rice, maize, wheat, yam and cassava to enable the nation to become self-sufficient in food production.

He commended the Bauchi State government for its support to the federal government’s agricultural policies and programmes geared towards fighting poverty in the country.

The programmes manager, Bauchi State Agricultural Development programme (BSADP), Alh Jafaru Ilelah who applauded the Federal Ministry of Agriculture for the initiative urged the participants to put into practice what they have learnt.

Alhaji Jafaru Ilelah assured that BSADP would continue to do its best in enlightening farmers on various farming techniques for the development of the agricultural sector in the state and the country at large.

Two of the participants, Mallam Ibrahim Musa and Talatu Garba, appreciated the Federal Ministry of Agriculture for the empowerment initiative on cassava production.

The emergency empowerment and demonstration of climate resilient practices in cassava production for farmers and extension agents is taking place concurrently in the north east, north west and north central zones of the country.
