The federal ministry of special duties and intergovernmental affairs (FMSDIGA) has verified and certified about 110 Zonal Intervention and Constituency Projects in the first three quarters of 2025.
Minister of special duties and intergovernmental affairs, Hon. Zephaniah Bitrus Jisalo, disclosed this during the ministry’s third quarter stakeholders and Citizens Engagement Forum themed ‘Deepening Inclusive Governance through Regional Collaboration and Grassroots Participation’, held in Abuja on Monday.
Jisalo said the zonal interventions and constituency projects span across various sectors of the society, which he said include healthcare, education as well as water, energy, and empowerment. He added that the projects have directly impacted communities, stimulated local economies, and improved access to basic services.
Minister Jisalo, who was represented by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Dr. Onwusoro Maduka Ihemelandu, also reiterated that FMSDIGA has strengthened its monitoring and improved financial accountability for Constituency Projects through its collaboration with the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation.
He said the ministry’s adherence to digital transformation through the implementation of Enterprise Content Management System (ECM) and the ongoing automation of Performance Management System (PMS) for improved productivity, was creating a more transparent and efficient service delivery in the ministry.
The minister further revealed that the ministry in its bid to boost inclusive governance, was participating in the NACCIMA Youth Entrepreneurs (NYE) engagement, explaining that the ministry was supporting Nigerian artisans and technicians through strengthened vocational training, intergovernmental collaboration, and digital empowerment, recognising their critical role in driving inclusive economic development.
In his personal remarks, the permanent secretary of the ministry revealed that they were not resting on the issue of promoting local government autonomy
“We participated in the Nigeria Local Government Development Summit where we pushed for the implementation of the Supreme Court ruling on Local Government autonomy. We believe true development begins at the grassroots, and our efforts are aligned with the President’s 8-Point Renewed Hope Agenda,” he stated.
