The decomposing body of Fatima Salihu Muhammad, a 24-year-old resident of Federal Polytechnic Bauchi Staff Quarters, who was declared missing about five days earlier has been discovered in a maize farm.

LEADERSHIP reports that Fatima disappeared last Wednesday after she was sent to buy groceries from Birshin Fulani, a community laying just separated from Fatima’s residence by a road.

Fatima’s body was discovered on Monday evening after a farmer, who was harvesting his crops noticed an unbearable and unpleasant odor on his farm.

The farm is located not more than 150 meters away from Fatima’s residence.

Residents identified the corpse as the missing Fatima Mohammed.

A source who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent that the deceased was found alongside her bags with the groceries she had bought by her side.

He added that Fatima has been buried while the matter was reported to the police for investigation.

When contacted, spokesperson of Bauchi State Police Command, CSP Ahmed Wakil confirmed the incident.

Wakil explained that a team of experienced homicide investigators had been saddled to conduct thorough, methodical, and timely investigations to unravel the cause of Fatima’s death.

It would be recalled that few weeks ago, some armed robbers were arrested for attacking the male students hostel of the Polytechnic, injuring some students in attempt to cart away their smartphones, computers and other valuables.
