Three persons suspected to be linked to the killing of a traditional ruler in Langtang North local government area of Plateau State were burnt to death by an angry mob yesterday.
The suspects were alleged to have been involved in the killing of the late Ponzhi Kwallak, the traditional ruler of Kwallak community who was killed in his residence after hoodlums invaded his home and made away with his motorcycle and mobile phone on Thursday night.
Residents said the three suspects were apprehended by locals while allegedly trying to sell the stolen motorcycle and reportedly confessed to the crime.
LEADERSHIP Weekend gathered that some residents were attempting to hand the suspects over to security operatives before an mob overpowered the youths, seized them and set them ablaze not far from the Langtang North local government council secretariat.
A source said the suspects were caught by members of the community and confessed before the angry mob descended on them.
The late monarch was attacked in his residence, shot and dispossessed of his motorcycle and phone.
At the time of filling this reports, efforts to get official confirmation from security agencies proved abortive.
