A 13-man Special Investigation Panel has been inaugurated by the Lagos State Police Command to probe the sudden death of Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, disclosed this on Monday at a press briefing attended by the late Mohbad’s father and other family members.

“Do not forget, we have unique access with INTERPOL. Everybody linked to it (the death of Mohbad) will be identified and they will be brought to establish their level of involvement,” CP Owohunwa stated.

LEADERSHIP reports that 27-year-old Mohbad, a former signee of Marlian Records label, died last Tuesday and was buried the next day on Wednesday in Ikorodu area of the State.

His former record label boss and singer, Naira Marley, while mourning the death of Mohbad, described him as “more than an artiste or signee but brother and dear friend” to him.

The Malian Records owner said this via his Instagram handle last Friday night in a statement personally signed by him on behalf of the record label.

He wrote: “From inception, we recognised Mohbad was a force to be reckoned with. His music gave so many people love and light. Mohbad touched us all with his heartfelt lyrics, story telling, infectious smile and energy. The news of his passing has left us with a permanent hole in our hearts.”

LEADERSHIP also reports that over 250,000 Nigerians have signed up to a petition seeking justice for the late Mohbad, whom they believed suffered abuse and violence, which allegedly led to his death.
