The All Progressive Congress (APC) chairmanship aspirant in Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State, Engr. Goodluck Momodu, has described the recent appointment of Hon Sylvester Aigboboh as the Edo State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors as a strategic boost for the party towards the re-electiom of President Bola Tinubu.

Momodu, while speaking on his ambition to contest the chairmanship seat of Etsako Central Local Government Area of the state, said Aigbaboh’s nomination underscored his commitment as a grassroot mobiliser to strengthen grassroot structure in Edo State.

He said, “His coordination role is expected to enhance party cohesion, galvanise members, and inspire renewed optimism toward securing a decisive APC victory in the 2027 presidential election.”

Explaining his aspiration, Engr. Momodu said his decision was rooted in long-standing engagement with his community.

“Politics is not something you just wake up and jump into. I have been a homeboy who connects with everyone in the community and understands the needs of my people. Going closer to them will help me bring more development to the council,” he stated.

According to him, his primary focus would be youth and women empowerment, alongside infrastructural development in critical sectors.

“My interest is to ensure that youths and women are empowered, while our communities experience real development in agriculture, healthcare, and job creation for our teeming youths,” he stated.

He stressed that the local government remains the most effective platform to drive such change.

Reacting to concerns about being new to contesting elections, the APC aspirant dismissed any fears, noting that he enjoys widespread grassroots support.

“I am not worried at all. I am not new in politics but new in contesting. I have been with my people from the days of AC to ACN and now APC. I have supported the party at every given opportunity, and the people know me for my support to youths and women through philanthropy,” he said.

On revenue generation, Engr. Momodu identified agriculture as the comparative advantage of Etsako Central. “Etsako East has limestone, Etsako West has Auchi Polytechnic, but what we have in Etsako Central is agriculture. I will invest hugely in agriculture, especially cassava production, which can be processed into flour for bread, spaghetti and noodles. With our land, youths and women, we can massively increase the council’s IGR,” he explained.

He further disclosed plans to explore dredging activities using Edo State’s waterways to create jobs and boost government revenue.
