The paramount traditional ruler of Zing, Suleiman Sambo, has commended President Bola Tinubu for improving the security situation in Taraba State.
The monarch said his subjects now enjoy relative peace and “can now sleep with both eyes closed,” due to the efforts of the president in the last two years.
Sambo made the remarks in Zing, when family members, friends, and political associates of the national security adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, from Adamawa State, visited the palace in solidarity to appreciate the monarch for conferring on Ribadu the traditional title of Wali Zing.
He recalled the contributions of Ribadu’s late father, noting that, he was among the elites who fought for the creation of Zing local government area years ago.
He, however commended President Tinubu for appointing Ribadu as NSA and pledged his full support for the president’s re-election bid in 2027.
Former Taraba State governor, Jolly Nyame, described the gathering as a clear expression of collective support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
He recalled that, prior to Tinubu’s administration, armed robbers frequently operated along the Zing–Adamawa road, but noted that the situation has changed.
Sani Danladi, a former acting governor of the state, highlighted the improved security situation across the country under Ribadu’s watch.
He explained that, bandits who once terrorized the Wukari–Benue axis had been flushed out, allowing motorists to travel freely without harassment.
“In Taraba State, we are thanking President Tinubu for restoring peace. Before now, bandits terrorized our farmers, who could not go to their farms.
“Today, they are back on their farmlands. Our roads are now safe, and no more kidnappings of our children for ransom,” Daladi said.
He also used the occasion to rally support for President Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
The title of Wali Zing is the fourth most prestigious position in the traditional hierarchy of the ancient city. It was conferred on Nuhu Ribadu in recognition of his outstanding service and the historic role played by his late father in the creation of Zing Local Government.
