The Civil Military Corps (CMC) has underscored the importance of sustaining the monthly prayer summit by the Nigeria Christian Civil Chaplain Corps (CCCC), explaining that seeking the face of God was a sure way to end years of insurgency and other internal security challenges facing the country.

The CCCC Commanding Officer (CO), Daniel Alimi, said the essence of hosting monthly National Security Prayer Summit became necessary for Nigerians to ensure the country continues to live in peace and  harmony despite its diversity.

He recalled that the 19th edition of the National  Prayer Summit themed “Nigeria Must Pray” held at Km 13, Gidan Magoro, Nyanya Karshi Expressway, between 7-8th of  February, 2025, in Abuja, was in line with achieving sustainable peace in the country.

Speaking yesterday with our correspondent in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, while  reflecting on the Abuja summit, Commanding Officer Alimi, explained that the security prayer summit was a call to action for Christians to come together and pray for the nation’s security challenges.

He highlighted the importance and power of prayers in the transformation of the nation, emphasising that the Christian Peace Corps would continue to pray for unity and harmony which, he noted, were the essential ingredients of socio-economic development of any nation.

He said, “The prayer submit is held to pray for the nation security and for peace to continue to reign in our country. The  summit is a call to action for Christians to come together and pray for our nation’s security challenges because we believe that prayer has the power to bring about transformation and peace.

“The Abuja summit was a huge success as it attracted Christians from all denominations including government officials and captains of industry who used the two days event praying, preaching and teaching to make sure peace continue to exist despite the security challenges in the country.

“The 19th national security prayer summit in Abuja has tremendously educated the participant on having passion as a voluntary organisation, praying, preaching and teaching to make sure peace continue to exist in the country while security issues  bothering the country become a thing of the past.

“During the summit Christian leaders, government officials, captains of industry, business gurus, royal fathers, top politicians, agencies seriously came to pray for Nigerian security and well being.

“Despite the economic challenges confronting Nigeria, we will not relent over our responsibilities to make sure we achieve our primary aim of ensuring peace and harmonious coexistence in Nigeria.”

Alimi explained that “the Corps is a non-denominational Christian organisation that provides chaplaincy service to Christians in Nigeria,” adding that with the summit security issues would be a thing of the pass where Nigerians would now witness and enjoy peace across the country.

“The organisation is aimed at promoting salvation, healing, restoration to see Nigeria transformed and rebuilt by the power of the gospel, with Nigerians living according to Christian’s values as a new nation without crime, terrorism and with spiritual growth, unity, good leadership and national development.

“The Corps is made of highly disciplined and biblically trained soldiers of Christ who are always ready to make sure that the summit theme is achieved despite challenges,” he added.

Highlights of the summit, according to him, included prophetic prayer sessions, keynote addresses, and commissioning of new chaplains and discussions on the role of faith in promoting national security.

He commended the FCT Corps commanding Officer Chukwudumbie Chukwuemeka, who worked tirelessly with his men to ensure the  successful hosting of the programme in Abuja, despite economic challenges in the country.
