Following the exit of the member representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, Hon. Oluwole Oke, from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Osun State, the state chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP, Dr Tosin Odeyemi, has hinted at a massive exit of other party stalwarts to other parties.
Speaking with LEADERSHIP Friday in Osogbo on Thursday, Odeyemi insisted that people who love the state’s progress in the ruling party would not sit back and fold their arms and watch governance being reduced to mere entertainment as it is.
Odeyemi spoke after the lawmaker resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on allegations of marginalisation, nepotism, failure to deliver on promises, injustice, among others, levelled against the ruling party.
The party chairman said nobody with a right conscience would believe things were going well in terms of governance since the Governor Adeleke-led administration had taken over Osun’s affairs.
According to him, “it should be partially believed that the intention of Governor Ademola Adeleke in aspiring to lead Osun was good but he surrounded himself with bootlickers that are hungry for power rather than good governance for all.
“Governor Ademola Adeleke surrounded himself with bootlickers that find it difficult to look up to him and advise him rightly”.
‘I won’t blame Hon. Wole Oke for leaving PDP, one thing that is very sure is that before the year runs out, more people with conscience will leave that party because many of them are presently suffering and smiling, they are just buying time.”
However, the ruling party said it remained strong and committed to delivering good governance and the dividends of democracy.
Reacting to Odeyemi’s prediction, PDP chairman, Sunday Bisi, said the party is waxing stronger daily with the influx of political gladiators from other parties into the PDP.
