Former Nigerian international Nwankwo Kanu has tipped Morocco to host and win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on home soil.

Having won the competition once in 1976, Kanu, in a chat with Le Site Info, believes the Atlas Lions have some of the best players in Europe at the moment.

The former Arsenal star also lauded the revolution in Moroccan football, emphasising that the team’s achievements are the result of years of hard work.

“Morocco has always boasted great players playing in Europe,” Kanu told Le Site Info.

“But this generation is unparalleled. Yassine Bounou, Achraf Hakimi… The technicality and talent of the entire squad give this team the status of a clear favourite for the upcoming AFCON.”

“I played against Morocco in the AFCON tournaments of 2000 and 2004… They always enter the competition as favorites but often fail to fulfill the dreams of millions of Moroccans.
“By hosting the AFCON at home, Morocco has every chance to be crowned champion.”

He added, “I truly believe that the Atlas Lions will not let the next AFCON slip away, especially since the Kingdom will be the host nation.”
