Movement for survival of Izon Ethnic nationality in Niger Delta (MOSIEND) has denied reports on social media that it has suspended its national president, Kennedy Tonjo West.

Chairman of the MOSIEND’s national elders’ Council, Elder Timi Ogoriba, disclosed this yesterday at the Eastern clzonal congress of the organisation, held in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

Ogoriba said, “MOSIEND is not conducting any election; nobody will buy form, nobody will campaign to become officers of the body. What you are doing is a selfless work for the Ijaw nation.

“We don’t have plans of changing Kennedy Tonjo West as National President of MOSIEND. This body has a hierarchy. It is the National Elders’ Council that can fire anyone. Kennedy Tonjo West has not been fired by the National Elders’ Council.

“MOSIEND is our franchise and no one person has the right to use that franchise. If you do that, we will come for your jocular. We are headed somewhere and we will not take it kindly and likely with anybody from this gathering. We say the status quo remains. So, people should taste our resolve,” he said.

Speaking during the congress, MOSIEND Chairman in the Eastern Zone, Ibim Ibiwari, said the executives of the zone decided to pass a vote of confidence on the National President because of his achievements so far in office.

Ibiwari said: “This has become very necessary as we took a cursory, a hard and a critical look at all his activities since he took office from the 19th of September, 2020 to date. Our assessment of him is that he has served meticulously, assiduously, diligently and altruistically.

“We have observed his mode of leadership as: open-door policies on all key-critical administrative decisions. His respect for constituted authority as demonstrated in his strict subordination to his superiors like members of the National Elders Council.

“The Ambassador Kennedy Tonjo West’s administration has achieved quite a lot within this period of three years and deserves our encomiums, commendations and accolades.

“He is dexterous, he has knack and an administrative acumen. A goal getter. There is no iota of exaggeration here. We are calling a spade no other name but a spade.

His close working relationship with his fellow Excos and the different stratum of the MOSIEND hierarchy. That he has never been a self-opinionated leader.”
