The Movement for the Izon Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta (MOSIEND) has applauded the chief of defence staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, for his commitment and contributions to national security in the past two years.

It also lauded Musa’s remarkable leadership, and strategic vision for the Nigerian Armed Forces, saying that the defence chief has demonstrated exceptional leadership and strategic vision, driving the Nigerian Armed Forces towards greater professionalism and effectiveness.

Speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt yesterday, MOSIEND president Dr. Kennedy West stated that the CDS’ leadership can be seen in the improved security situation in the country and the enhanced professionalism and effectiveness of the armed forces.

Kennedy West commended the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, for his exceptional leadership and strategic vision, which he says are transforming the Nigerian Armed Forces into a more professional and effective institution.

Since assuming office on June 19, 2023, General Musa has achieved key milestones that reflect his deep commitment to national security and defence. West noted that the President’s appointment of General Musa has been instrumental in driving these achievements, urging Nigerians to support the armed forces as they work to safeguard the country’s vital oil resources and build a more secure and prosperous nation.

Highlighting the results of General Musa’s leadership, West pointed to notable improvements in Nigeria’s overall security situation and the increased professionalism of the military. These gains, he said, have earned General Musa widespread respect both at home and abroad.

One of the significant achievements under his tenure is the increase in Nigeria’s crude oil production, which has now surpassed the country’s OPEC quota.

West attributed this to enhanced pipeline surveillance strategies that have drastically reduced oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and illegal bunkering by over 90 percent. This development, he said, has significantly improved the terminal recovery factor and increased oil production revenues.

The Armed Forces have also improved their operational capabilities by embracing technology and deploying innovative strategies to tackle complex security challenges across the country. General Musa has placed a strong emphasis on professionalism, discipline, and respect for human rights, helping to instill a culture of excellence within the military ranks.
