Mother, 5 Children Killed As Wall Collapses In Katsina

Despite the devastating loss, Dankama expressed gratitude to God and prayed for the souls of his wife and children.

The people of Dankama in Katsina State have been thrown into mourning following a heavy downpour that resulted in the collapse of wall on six family members, killing the mother and her five children.

The incident occurred around 2am on Monday at the home of Muhammad Sani Garba Dankama, where the deceased mother and her five children were crushed to death in their sleep.

Three other victims were rushed to the hospital with injuries.

According to the bereaved father, Dankama, he narrated that he was away from home when the wall fell, saying he was shocked and left in disbelief upon hearing the news.

“This happened to about ten people, but sadly six didn’t make it. Right now, three are in the hospital receiving treatment,” he told reporters.

Among the deceased were Mariya Sani, 45 years (the mother), Mujahid Sani, 20 years, Zahariya Sani, 18 years, Hauwa Sani, 15 years, Amira Sani, and Nura Sani, 5 years old.

Sympathizers comprising friends, relatives and residents of the community have started visiting the Dankama residence to offer condolences.

Despite the devastating loss, Dankama expressed gratitude to God and prayed for the souls of his wife and children.

“I surrender to Allah’s will. May He grant them eternal rest,” he said.
