Mothers of children living with cerebral palsy in Abia State have appreciated The Straight Child Foundation (TSCF) for its contributions to the well-being of their children.
Some mothers spoke in exclusive chats with LEADERSHIP on the sidelines of the 2025 World Cerebral Palsy Day celebration in Umuahia, the state capital.

The mothers, including Amuzie Uche, Joy Ukachukwu, Chioma Stanley, Ijeoma Ikechi, and Iroamakwe Naomi, said the TSCF had given them hope for their children.

They expressed delight that the TSCF, through its awareness campaign programmes, had helped them understand how to handle and care for the children.

They also commended and prayed for Peace Amaraegbulam, the founder of the TSCF, for her concern for the children, sacrifices, and interventions.

At the event, TSCF’s advocacy and communication officer, Wilson Oluyomi, explained the day’s significance, emphasising the need for children’s inclusion and acceptance in society.

He further informed that the day served as a reminder that such children should not be defined by their limitations and assured them of continued support.

He maintained that the celebration’s theme, “Unique and United,” agrees with and supports the TSCF’s Cerebral Palsy Parent Support Group meeting.

“They are not children with disabilities, but children with special abilities,” Oluyomi added, commending the mothers and their families for their courage and perseverance.
