Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football, has clarified that he will remain in office beyond his initial plan for a single term.
Motsepe, who took over from Ahmad Ahmad as CAF President, stated that his decision was driven by the imperative to ensure continuity and stability within African football’s governing body.
The South African football administrator explained that, while his original intention was to serve only one term, he reconsidered to consolidate the advancements made during his tenure.
“I was originally supposed to serve only one term as CAF President, but I must ensure that those who succeed me continue to build on the legacy we have created,” Motsepe commented.
Since assuming office, Motsepe has overseen a series of reforms aimed at enhancing governance, financial transparency, and competitiveness across African football.
His administration has also focused on strengthening CAF competitions and fostering improved relationships with global football stakeholders.
His decision to extend his stay is widely viewed by observers as a move to solidify ongoing projects and establish a sustainable foundation for future leadership within CAF.
