A multiple-accident involving a petrol tanker and three other vehicles occurred on Tuesday on the Otedola Bridge, inward Berger, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, leading to severe traffic disruption in the area of Lagos.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) disclosed the incident in a statement shared on X on Tuesday. According to the agency, emergency responders were immediately deployed to the scene to manage the situation and prevent further escalation.
Officials from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), and LASTMA were reported to be on ground, coordinating rescue operations and traffic control.
As of the time of filing this report, rescue efforts and traffic management were ongoing, while measures were being taken to clear the affected vehicles and restore the free flow of traffic along the busy expressway.
In a further statement, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority said, “An accident involving multiple vehicles has occurred on Otedola Bridge, inward Berger, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The incident involved a PMS-laden tanker, two Toyota Corolla vehicles, and a commercial vehicle.”
“Emergency responders such as #LagosRescue and #LASAMBUS, alongside LASTMA personnel, are firmly at the location to do the needful,” the statement read.
