Nigerian Entertainment Today (NET) has announced the seventh edition of its annual audience-data-based awards, NET Honours, scheduled to take place on Friday, December 22, 2023. This prestigious celebration will recognize and honor some of Africa’s well-known personalities in the entertainment industry.

The awards, which are determined based on audience data analysis across ID Africa’s owned media channels – Netng, Neusroom, 234Star, and Orin, will offer 24 categories, 18 of which will be determined by public voting. The nominations, drawn from audience search, engagement, and trends, aim to acknowledge outstanding celebrities, public figures, and events that have significantly influenced Africa’s pop culture in the past year.

Iretomiwa Akintunde-Johnson, ID Africa’s Regional Manager for West Africa, highlighted the relevance of NET Honours in the continent’s entertainment sector, stating, “As the African entertainment industry continues to grow significantly, Nigeria maintains its position as a leader in global achievements.”

She added, “African music, movies, and fashion are expanding their frontiers, breaking boundaries, and our entertainers are pioneering new paths.”

The voting categories boast an expanded list of nominations this year, offering fans the chance to participate in selecting winners. Renowned artists such as Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Tems, and Tiwa Savage, among others, lead the nominations across multiple categories.

The online voting process will commence on Friday, December 15, 2023, on thenet.ng/voting and will run until 11:59 pm on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. The winners will be unveiled virtually on Friday, December 22, 2023, through Netng’s social media platforms and website.

NET Honours, an award based on verified audience data, originated in 2013 as a special recognition at the Nigerian Entertainment Conference (NECLive). Over the years, it has evolved into the NET Honours People’s Choice Awards, reaching millions worldwide virtually since 2020 due to the pandemic.
